Where the plains of the Eastern Europe form a fanciful outline on the turquoise of the Black Sea, where the rocky mountains steep down into the sea depths, where, as ancients believed, the civilised Oikumena ended and Asia began, lies this piece of land surrounded by the sea from three sides.... The Crimean peninsula is one of the most beautiful and mysterious parts of the world.

Its landscapes are as diverse as Eurasia: low hills and unassailable cliffs, forests and steppe, deep canyons and turbulent mountainous streams. Its climate reminds the Adriatic and French Rivera. Its curative mud is a match to the mud from Israel, and the mineral waters are equal that of the Caucasus. Its history is whimsical and no less rich than its landscapes.

Numerous nations and tribes have left their traces here: Greek and Romans, Scythiens and Tavrs, Goths, Alans, Khazars, Tatars, Turks, Genoese. You can find here the monuments of the different civilisations: the ruins of antique cities Khersonese and Pantikapei, unique Cave towns, and Orthodox cloisters lost in the mountains, Genoa fortresses of Sudak, Feodosia and Balaklava, Tartar mosques of Bakhchisarai and Stary Krym, splendid palaces of the Russian nobility on he southern coast.

Crimea has more than 600 sanatoriums and resort institutions, used by people wishing to improve their health and by holidaymakers. Sanatoriums and boarding houses providing curative facilities are located mostly on the southern coast, as well as on the resorts of Saki and Yevpatoriya. The southern coast is mostly used for catering an adult part of the population (with bronchitis and lung diseases, cardiovascular disorders, etc.). Yevpatoria and Saki are the resorts for children. Each sanatorium has a specialisation, which depend on peculiarities of regions.

Crimean unique climate and mineral resources with curative properties are well known. Low humidity, combined with other factors, makes the southern coast of Crimea indispensable for treatment of bronchitis and lung discuses. Mud and mineral waters of Saki and Yevpatoria are good for curing people with digestive tract diseases and physical disorders.
